Learn how the ideas of Hippocrates and Galen spawned a murky world of mercury cures and caffeine enemas, leeches and bloodletting galore. Only to be transformed into one of the most respected professions at the cutting edge of science.

Travel through the present day’s medical district taking in renowned institutions including University College Hospital, the General Medical Council and The Wellcome Trust.

Uncover less well known sites from the past and present such as the former home of the now defunct London Foot Hospital, the town house of the eccentric German father of food hygiene and the West End’s first modern birth control clinic.

Our most popular walk concludes at the Wellcome Trust, one of the world’s leading medical research charities.
