Dutch Courage & Medicinal Brandy: a story of alcohol and health

Take a trip through the heart of London to explore the Capital’s drinking culture and the long and complex relationship between healing and imbibing, excess and distress.

For almost 10,000 years people around the world have been charging their glasses with the demon drink and toasting ‘To Your Good Health’!

More recently doctors, once hooked on the use of alcohol in a range of treatments, have been calling time on our love affair with liquor, recommending that we limit just how often we say ‘Cheers!’

Learn about the high jinx, japes and scrapes of making merry and the dark underside and serious consequences of a life ‘on the sauce’.
